Assured reasonable price for wood produced by the farmers by fixing a purchase price for all species from time to time and save the farmers against exploitation.

Purchase price of trees was increased by 85% in previous three years.

Procurement of trees from farmers, panchayats and institutions within and from outside State and also from Haryana Forest Department.

Felled and converted 70579 cubic metres during 2009-10 from forest and non-forest lands.

Paid about Rs. 514 lac as Royalty of trees to the Haryana Forest Department.

Started sawmill and furniture making at Pipli in 2007-08. Manufactured and sold furniture worth Rs. 5 lac in 2007-08 and Rs. 23.14 lac during 2008-09 and 50.00 lac during 2009-10.

Successful plantation of 155000 plants on Railway land of Delhi Region. Plantation handed over to Railways in June 2008.

Commercial plantation of Eucalyptus clone (C-10) and Aloe vera on 63 acres of land of Kishanpura Soil Conservation Society, Yamunanagar, taken on lease by HFDC in March 2008 and sold about 400 quintals of Aloe vera leaf during 2008-09 and 1000 quintals during 2009-10.

Work of Arboriculture for the Ministry of Defence at Cochin, Vishakhapatnam, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Alwar, Goa, Vizag, Chandimandir, Bangalore, Lucknow, Deolali (Nasik), Karwar and Delhi.

Organized one week refresher courses during 2005-06 to 2008-09 for senior IFS officers from all over the country on agroforestry, sponsored by Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India.

Started plantation activities under Compensatory Afforestation for other agencies as deposit work.

Started plantation works in Delhi areas for the State Government of Delhi.

Consultancy for data collection for
Afforestation/Reforestation Clean Development Mechanism (A/R CDM)
Project of Delhi. Total cost of consultancy was Rs. 11.88 lac.
This was a special work done by HFDC, which acted as a
Consultant to many State Forest Departments for A/R CDM
projects. RM Gurgaon did the consultancy on behalf of HFDC and
his visits were sponsored by GTZ. The project site of Delhi was
visited by Mr. Sigmar Gabriel, Minister for the Environment,
Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of the Federal Republic
of Germany.

Compensatory Afforestation of 1390 plants for
Hindustan Petrochemicals Limited at a total cost of Rs. 5.44 lac.

Arboriculture and landscaping works for
Director General, Married Accommodation Project, Ministry of
Defence, Government of India. Projects of Cochin, Vishakhapatnam,
Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Alwar, Goa, Vizag, Chandimandir, Bangalore,
Lucknow, Deolali (Nasik), Karwar and Delhi.

National Building Construction Corporation Limited. Total cost
of projects is Rs. 92.25 lac.

Horticulture Maintenance and Development
Works at NTPC Limited, Faridabad. Total cost of project is Rs.
14.61 lac.

Department have been taken for different places in Delhi area.
Total cost of projects is Rs. 286.3 lac.

Government of NCT, Delhi. Total cost of project was Rs. 30.36
lac.

Department, Delhi. Total cost of project is Rs. 45.50 lac.

Organization of National Environment
Awareness Campaign (NAEC) 2008-09. It was a training programme
organized by HFDC for the Ministry of Environment and Forests,
Government of India.

Miscellaneous services to Forest Department,
Government of NCT of Delhi. Total cost of project was Rs. 9.64
lac.

Development of Nursery for Central Forest
Division, Government of NCT of Delhi. Total cost of project was
Rs. 15.23 lac.

Supply of MS Iron Tree Guards to Forest
Department, Haryana. MS Iron Tree Guards were supplied to DFOs
Gurgaon, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Faridabad, Mewat, Panipat, Rohtak,
Karnal, Sonepat and Bhiwani. Total cost of project was Rs. 52.17
lac.

Supply of Concrete Fence Pillars. Fence posts
were supplied to DFOs Panipat, Karnal and Bhiwani against a
total cost of Rs. 40.50 lac.

HFDC carries out felling of dead, dry as well as green standing trees, allotted by the Haryana Forest Department in various forests. After felling and conversion, timber and wood are disposed by open auction from the sale depots. HFDC also purchases trees from Farmers, Panchayats, Institutions and Government Departments at purchase rates fixed by it. |
The details of fellings of dead, dry and green trees from forest and non-forest lands, their number and volume regionwise have been given below along with the conversion of total volume felled in each region. Assuming all trees from non-forest lands as green; out of total standing trees, 24% were dead and dry trees and 76% were green trees. Out of total fellings of 70579 m3 standing volume from forest areas, 75% were green and 25% were dead, dry and fallen. Out of total felling of standing trees from forest and non-forest areas, the conversion was 50% timber, 28% pulp size (G-I) and 16% firewood (G-II). Volume of G-I and G-II are in stacked cubic metres.

After harvesting and conversion, timber and wood are transported to sale depots. It gives the volumes of round timber in cubic metres, pulpwood size G-I in stacked cum and firewood G-II in stacked cubic metres. These converted volumes are disposed off by holding open auctions. The price of round timber is in rupees per cubic metre whereas the prices for Grade-I and Grad-II are rupees per stacked cubic metre

is timber of below size with girth between 60 cm to 89 cm. Grade-I
pulp size wood with girth below 60 cm and above 30 cm. Grade-II is
firewood with girth below 30 cm.

HFDC manufactures polythene bags in its two units located at Kurukshetra and Hisar and supplies them to the Forest Department for raising of plants in nurseries. The manufacturing units at Kurukshetra and Hisar also produce woven bags being used by the Forest Department for raising tall plants in nurseries. On an average, HFDC supplies between 135 to 150 tonnes of polythene bags every year to the Haryana Forest Department. The prices of polythene bags depend upon the cost of raw material at the time of purchase by HFDC. The sale price of polythene bags has been fixed at the rate of Rs. 107/- per Kg. plus taxes with effect from 01.12.2008. HFDC manufactures only A-Grade polythene bags.

HFDC has installed three manufacturing units at Kurukshetra and three at Hisar to meet the demand of Forest Department. One unit produces about 600 Kg Barbed Wire in two shifts of eight hours. The bulk manufacturing and supply was done during 2006-07 and 2007-08 to the Forest Department. The prices of Barbed Wire depend upon the cost of raw material at the time of purchase by HFDC. Government of Haryana has declared the Haryana Forest Development Corporation as approved source for supply of Barbed Wire. The sale price of Barbed Wire has been fixed at the rate of Rs. 58/- per Kg. plus taxes with effect from 01.12.2008. |

HFDC has taken over Saw Mill abandoned by the Forest Department at Pipli on lease for value addition to timber. Saw Mill premises were taken over by HFDC in April 2007. It renovated the buildings and installed machinery to run the Saw Mill and workshop. Forest Research Institute, Dehradun was requested to set up the wood seasoning plant in the premises. The work of establishing Seasoning Kiln has been finished and the production of furniture has started. During the year 2009-10, HFDC sold furniture worth Rs. 50 lac. A proposal has been sent to the Government of Haryana to declare HFDC as an approved source for supply of furniture. |

HFDC organized a one week compulsory training course for IFS officers on ‘Role of Agroforestry in Increasing Tree Cover’ from February 02 to 06, 2009 in UT State Guest House, Chandigarh. This training was sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. A total of 16 IFS officers from various states participated in this training. The training was imparted by senior officers from Haryana Forest Department, HFDC and guest faculty members from Dehradun on advancements in the field of agroforestry and clonal propagation of Eucalyptus for increasing tree cover in the country.
During the course of training, the IFS officers visited the furniture workshop and Saw Mill of HFDC at Kurukshetra, plywood and board industries in Damla, clonal propagation facility of Eucalyptus at Seothi and Polythene Bag and Barbed Wire factories of HFDC at Kurukshetra. The training was appreciated by all the participants. The overall impression of the course was 83%, evaluated by Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India.
